Alycia Canavan received her B.A. in Applied Linguistics from Portland State University, and her M.A. in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon. She is licensed by the Oregon Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She has practiced as a speech language pathologist in public schools and in private practice. In 2015, Alycia founded Birdsong Speech Therapy Associates in Springfield, Oregon. Her areas of clinical interest include Autism Spectrum Disorder, articulation and phonological disorders, early language development, and Childhood Apraxia of Speech.
Currently, Alycia is a clinical supervisor in the School-Age Speech and Language Specialty Clinic and teaches the undergraduate Clinical Phonetics class in the Communication Disorders & Sciences program.
