Biography

Dr. Alverson is a research associate professor in the Secondary Special Education and Transition research unit in the College of Education. She is a technical assistance provider for the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition (NTACT) and Director of Technical Assistance and Training for the Oregon Youth Transition Program. Prior to completing her Ph.D., Dr. Alverson taught students with moderate and severe disabilities for thirteen years.

This faculty member is interested in having a new doctoral student for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Research

Dr. Alverson's research interests include secondary transition and post-school outcomes, transition for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disability/development disabilities, and data use to improve in-school secondary special education programming. She is currently co-PI on a National Science Foundation grant focused on STEM education and career opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
