In the museum field for over thirty years, Turner has served as Director of major art museums in the West and Southwest, including University of Oregon Museum of Art; Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, always remaining active in curatorial and educational activities. Current professional and personal activities involve research on historical photographs, development of visual learning materials, habitat improvement as a board member of a local watershed council, and exploring new places outdoors.
