Emily Henkelman (she/her) is the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Student Services in the SOJC's advising office. She works with prospective students and their families and manages first year programming for the SOJC. Emily also serves as a career and academic advisor in the office and advises prospective, pre-journalism, alumni, and current students within the School of Journalism and Communication. Before moving to Eugene to become part of the SOJC and UO community, Emily worked at Regis University in Denver, Colorado in the office of Residence Life and Housing and as a case manager at a shelter for low-income and previously homeless women in Washington, D.C. as part of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. Emily graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2014 with a BA in Environmental Studies and minors in German, Global Studies, and Women and Gender Studies and has a MS in College Student Personnel from Western Illinois University. Emily values building relationships with the students she works with and approaches advising with a philosophy of holistic care.
