Biography

James Terborg is a professor emerit of management at the University of Oregon's Lundquist College of Business. He previously served as interim dean at the Lundquist College, and also held the administrative positions of Department of Management chair, director of the Institute of Industrial Relations, academic director of the Oregon Executive MBA program, academic director of the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center, and senior associate dean for faculty affairs, all at the Lundquist College. From 1989 through 2013, Terborg was the Carolyn Chambers Professor of Management.

Terborg has published more than 60 articles and book chapters on leadership, motivation, and employee attitudes. His current research examines management and organization issues within the context of sports. During his time in the Lundquist College of Business, he taught courses on organizational behavior, human resource management, and sports business. He has consulted with Sears, Weyerhaeuser, Coors, and Nike on topics of employee morale, productivity measurement, and employee health promotion.

Terborg is also former chair of the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management, a charter member of the Society of Organizational Behavior, and a fellow in the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Society. He previously served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, American Journal of Health Promotion, Journal of Employee Assistance Program Research, Journal of Quality Management and the Journal of Sport Management.
