We have made three exciting new updates to Profiles:
- Profile picture cropping,
- Notifications, and
- Administrator-only field restrictions
New Profile Picture Options Now Available
We’ve enhanced the profile picture experience on UOProfiles. Faculty and staff can now choose from a variety of cropping options when uploading their photos—making it easier to select an image that best represents their professional identity.
To maintain a consistent and accessible look across the directory, all profile pictures will still display in a standardized format when viewed in search results or department listings. This ensures a cohesive visual identity while allowing individuals more flexibility in how they present themselves on their personal profile pages.
Why this matters:
- More control over how you’re represented
- A unified look for departmental and university-wide directories
- Improved accessibility and visual consistency
We encourage everyone to explore the new options and update their profile photo today
New Notification Features for Profile Updates
We’ve introduced a new notification system to keep faculty and staff informed about changes to their UOProfiles.
Now, when a profile or department assignment is updated, the affected individual will receive a notification detailing:
- What was changed
- Who made the change
- When it happened
In addition, Profile Department Administrators will be notified whenever a profile within their department is modified. This ensures transparency, accountability, and better coordination across departments.
Why this matters:
- Keeps you informed about updates to your professional profile
- Enhances transparency and trust in profile management
- Helps department admins stay on top of changes in real time
These notifications are designed to support a more connected and responsive profile system for the entire UO community.
Field Restrictions for Improved Data Accuracy
To ensure the integrity of profile data across UOProfiles, we’ve updated permissions for certain fields like name and title. These fields are now only editable by Profile Department Administrators.
If you notice incorrect information in one of these restricted fields, please contact your Profile Department Administrator to request a correction.
Why this matters:
- Helps maintain accurate and consistent data across departments
- Reduces errors and unauthorized changes
- Supports better coordination between staff and administrators
These changes are part of our ongoing effort to make UOProfiles a reliable and professional resource for the UO community.
