CV Summary

Dr. Yeji Han’s research interests are second language acquisition (SLA), language pedagogy, and motivation in language learning with a specific focus of Korean as a second language (L2). Her research goal is to investigate L2 motivation and its influence on L2 learning process and outcomes. To this end, she follows macro- and micro-level dynamic approaches to explain interaction between motivation and L2 learning. On a sociocultural level, she is interested in contextual factors that shape learners' attitudes toward L2 and L2 community and learners' perception of themselves as a user of L2. At the classroom level, her research explores how trait-based motivation and self-concept interact with linguistic dimensions of L2 learning such as complexity, accuracy, fluency and responses to corrective feedback. At the University of Oregon, she teaches SLA, language pedagogy, research methods, Korean linguistics and language at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Also, she advises PhD students who major in Korean linguistics. She received a Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Applied Linguistics at Concordia University, Montreal.
